(Betty Heard, September 23, 1978)

"How long does it take to get to Heaven?"

I heard my daughter say

Someone she knew and loved had died

I explained death to her this way

As fast as I can snap my fingers

That's how fast you get to Heaven

She tried so hard to snap hers too

Bud she'd only just turned 7

I told her when a Christian says goodbye

To life down here on Earth

They wake up holding Jesus' hand

Just like a brand new birth

My little girl was glad because

Her Paw Paw would have his friend

To keep him company in Heaven

Until we all get together in the end

I leaned down close to kiss her

So much knowledge in one so small

She smiled because she now knew

It wasn't far to Heaven at all.
